INTRODUCTION:

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys is a member of The Grammar Schools of Birmingham Consortium. The Consortium sets admission standards for schools in the West Midlands region. Admission to Camp Hill for Boys is highly competitive, as it is a prestigious school. Students who wish to join the school in Year 7 must pass the 11 Plus exam. Only those who achieve the required standards on this assessment will be considered for admission.

Potential Year 7 students at Camp Hill Boys are chosen for admission depending on their combined, age-standardized score in the 11 Plus exam, just like all other grammar schools in Birmingham. To be eligible for a spot, students must receive the minimal "qualifying score" on the exam. However, parents should be informed that not every boy who meets the qualifying score will be awarded a spot because of oversubscription.

Oversubscription Criteria:

Looked After Children or Formerly Looked After Children who meet the requirements based on the standardized score rank order.
Pupils who qualify for the Pupil Premium and meet the requirements based on the standardized score rank order (limited to 24 seats).
Additional kids who meet the requirements based on the standardized score's rank order.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

To apply for a Year 7 spot at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys, parents should first register their child with the Grammar Schools of Birmingham Consortium. EXAM FORMAT:

There are two test papers in the King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys 11 Plus exam, each lasting roughly 60 minutes. The documents are divided into discrete, timed segments covering:

English Comprehension
Verbal Reasoning
Mathematics
Non-verbal + Spatial Reasoning

Inference is one of the comprehension skills that are tested on the English Comprehension paper. There won't be any writing involved.

The Verbal Reasoning portion of the test evaluates vocabulary, logical thinking, and usage of the English language.

The Mathematics test assesses students' ability to solve problems and perform basic mathematical operations, covering topics such as numbers, measurements, geometry, algebra, and statistics.

In addition, Nonverbal and Spatial Reasoning tests that measure intellect and reasoning will be included in the exam.

Every topic is examined in both papers. Age-standardized scores will be applied to all multiple-choice questions to guarantee that no student will benefit more than another due to their age.

To prepare your child adequately for the Birmingham 11 plus exam, it is recommended that you start reviewing all of the material at least a year before the test. This can be done by studying learning goals across the Key Stage 2 national curriculum and beyond. It is advised to use a 'little and often' study strategy, focusing equally on all subjects to avoid obsessing over your strengths or favorites. You can also examine practice papers with your child to help them become more comfortable with different question types, improve their exam technique, and reduce stress on the test day. The minimum admission score required by the school is 205. This is the minimal standardized score required to be considered for a position.
