INTRODUCTION:

Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls, or SCGSG, is an esteemed educational institution located in the Sutton Coldfield area of Birmingham. ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls is a part of The Birmingham Grammar Schools Consortium. The admission standards for the West Midlands are determined by this body. The results of an applicant's 11 Plus exam decide their admission to the institution.

Entrants for Year 7 are chosen for admission according to their age-standardized cumulative score from the 11 Plus exam, just like all other grammar schools in Birmingham. For consideration of admission, students must receive the minimum "qualifying score" on the test.

  • Looked after or formerly looked after children.

  • Students who qualify for the Pupil Premium.

  • Those who reside nearest to the school.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The Grammar Schools of Birmingham Consortium must first register a daughter's application for a Year 7 spot at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls.

Second, parents need to fill out a preference form from the Local Authority (LA). Parents are asked to list up to six schools that they would prefer. Each application must be taken into consideration by the LA.

The official allocation of slots will take place in early March of the following year when the local LA sends out the results of the 11 Plus test in October.

EXAM FORMAT:

There are two examination papers, each lasting roughly sixty minutes, for the Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls 11 Plus exam. The papers are divided into discrete, timed segments that address:

  • Non-verbal + Spatial Reasoning

Both papers will cover every topic, and age-standardized scores will be applied to all multiple-choice questions to ensure that no student benefits more than others based on their age.

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

Every year, more students than space is available for Year 7 admission at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls. In light of the competitive nature of the 11 Plus exam, students who wish to be considered for a spot must be well-prepared for it. Implementing a revision plan long in advance of the exam day is crucial for the 11 Plus. Students ought to utilize practice test papers to get ready for the eleven+ exam.

The minimum admission score required by the school is 205. This is the minimal standardized score required to be considered for a position.
